How We Can Help

Saving Lives

At the core of our mission are the animals themselves, who receive a second chance through our unwavering dedication. In New Orleans, dogs and cats under our care or in our life-saving centers receive the vital love, medical attention, and training needed to find their forever homes. Additionally, we implement programs across New Orleans aimed at preventing pets from entering shelters and ensuring those that do are rehomed more quickly.

Adoption

With numerous dogs and cats in Brisbane shelters each year needing homes—and too many not surviving simply because they are overlooked—we believe there is no reason to buy from breeders or pet stores. Furry Friends of Brisbane is committed to making adoption an accessible and positive experience for everyone involved.

Fostering

We collaborate with local shelters to support the expansion of emerging foster programs and highlight the crucial role fostering plays in the well-being of community pets. Our Foster Programs Playbook, filled with guidance on creating a robust foster network, is available for free to help organizations keep foster participants engaged in our shared no-kill mission.

Spay/Neuter Services

By advocating for accessible and affordable spay/neuter services, we aim to reduce the number of unwanted litters that end up in shelters. Furry Friends of New Orleans supports spay/neuter initiatives across the city and offers low-cost services through our centers.

Community Programs

We refer to them as community cats: free-roaming felines in New Orleans that, if left unchecked, significantly contribute to higher shelter euthanasia rates. Through our humane trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) program, we are reducing the number of litters entering shelters and ensuring these cats return to their communities healthier and sterilized.

Collaboration is central to our mission. By partnering with other animal welfare organizations, we are creating innovative lifesaving methods that are revolutionizing how New Orleans cares for and protects its homeless pets.
